At Fierce Females, we’re proud to announce that we have been awarded funding through the Kinetic Moving Communities Fund. This grant will support the delivery of a 10-class course tailored for teenage girls. The course will focus on essential life skills such as building safety awareness, emotional resilience, fostering healthy relationships, and navigating positive conflict resolution.

This school holidays, we’re proud to offer Active & Healthy self-defence workshops for kids and teens right from our Fierce Females studio. These engaging sessions are part of the City of Gold Coast’s Active & Healthy initiative, designed to empower young people with practical safety skills while fostering confidence and resilience.

We recently had the wonderful opportunity to sit down for a coffee and chat with Darryl from Firefly Initiative about the work we’re doing at Fierce Females. During the conversation, Amanda shared insights into our mission of empowering women and girls through self-defence.

This recognition comes with a generous $20,000 community grant from Westfield, which will help us continue our mission of empowering women and girls across the Northern Gold Coast and Helensvale community.

The Gold Coast Primary Health Network's Community Grants program is designed to support projects that enhance health and well-being across the Gold Coast region. This initiative provides funding to community organisations that deliver programs or services addressing key health priorities, such as mental health, chronic disease management, and preventative health.

In recent years, Australia has seen a concerning rise in teen violence. This unsettling trend has been evident across the country, with notable incidents occurring on the Gold Coast and in other major cities.

When you look around today at all the adverts, magazine covers, and prime time television, it is easy to see that after all this time, women are still held firmly beneath the thumb of a patriarchy which has no regrets.

We, women, are constantly pitted against one another in a competition as objects to be admired, and then cast aside by the very same admirers.

No longer reserved for the kiddies on the playground, bullying has soared to astronomical heights. Bullying has become widespread and can now be found in the workplace as well as in the marketplace and social community spaces. The epidemic of bullying in society today isn't just limited to the lower levels of socioeconomic status either.

My dearest father has recently started writing poetry, rhymes and ditties. I was very touched when he sent me a wonderful little piece of his work that he wrote for you. Yes, even my dad is thinking about ways to empower women. He thought it would be a good bit of advice from an older man who has seen it all. I hope it inspires you to follow and trust your intuition x

The word “feminism” today seems to hold a much more convoluted meaning than what it once represented.

Coined by Frenchman, Charles Fourier, in the late 19th century, the term originated from the French word “feminisme" and was initially introduced in association with a growing movement toward equal legal and political rights for women. It was originally intended to combat the overbearing patriarchy that held women under its thumb as literal possessions of men.

In 2023 and now 2024, the discourse surrounding the sexual objectification of athletes continues to evolve, reflecting broader societal shifts in attitudes towards gender and representation in sports media. As we witness a growing awareness and critique of double standards in how male and female athletes are portrayed, it becomes crucial to examine the role of influential sports publications in shaping these perceptions.
