Our Reconnection for Resilience Community Grant Self Defence Program
The Gold Coast Primary Health Network's Community Grants program is designed to support projects that enhance health and well-being across the Gold Coast region. This initiative provides funding to community organisations that deliver programs or services addressing key health priorities, such as mental health, chronic disease management, and preventative health. The grants aim to foster stronger, healthier communities by empowering local groups to implement initiatives that improve access to care, support vulnerable populations, and promote overall community resilience.
Thanks to the generous support of the Gold Coast Primary Health Network's Community Grants program, we've been able to extend our reach and impact through our 10-week women’s group self-defence program. This initiative has been particularly crucial in the wake of the recent Christmas storms, which left many in our community feeling vulnerable and uncertain.
Our workshops provided a safe and supportive space where women could rebuild their confidence, learn practical safety skills, and foster resilience through a blend of psychology, conflict resolution, and mixed martial arts techniques.
These sessions have been instrumental in helping participants navigate the physical and emotional challenges brought on by stressful situations. By focusing on both physical and emotional well-being, we've empowered women to move forward with newfound strength and a greater sense of community connection.
We are incredibly grateful to the Gold Coast Primary Health Network (PHN) for their generous support through the Community Grants program. This funding has allowed us to make a tangible difference in the lives of many women within our community, particularly in the wake of challenging events like the recent Christmas storms.
