1-on-1 survival and protection training Gold Coast
Working with women of all abilities, our 1-on-1 survival and protection training sessions are available from our Gold Coast studio.
It's just you and one of our female facilitators, in a space that feels nothing like a regular dojo or gym. You'll leave with practical skills and a clearer understanding of how you respond under pressure.
Every session is delivered with care. We go at your pace, explain everything before we start, and tailor the training to you.
$150 per session
1-hour sessions
6 AM to 9 PM Monday to Saturday
Helensvale Fierce studio
Why private sessions?
Starting something new can feel uncomfortable, especially if you've never trained before or have a specific situation in mind. 1-on-1 sessions give you your facilitator’s full attention. No two sessions are the same: we tailor each one to your goals, your experience and what your body can do.
1-on-1 suits you if you:
are new to self-defence and want to start privately
are returning to training after a break or an injury
have a specific situation you want to prepare for
would prefer not to train in a group
have experienced violence and want to go at your own pace
Our 1-on-1 training is available 6 AM to 9 PM Monday to Saturday to accommodate busy lifestyles. If you can’t find a time that works for you on our booking system—No worries! Contact our friendly team today so that you don’t miss out!
Sessions are available at our Gold Coast studio in Westfield Helensvale.

What you’ll learn
A practical survival plan is more than punching and kicking. Sessions combine mind-and-body training:
Recognising danger earlier: reading situations and people, and trusting your instincts.
Your voice and your boundaries: what to say, how to say it and when to leave.
Understanding fear: why your body freezes under threat, and how training can help you interrupt the freeze response.
Physical skills: striking and escaping holds, matched to your body and ability, and chosen to rely on technique rather than size or strength.
Skills build with practice. The more you train, the more natural your responses become.
Our training is created by women, for women. We're here to break the stereotypes and remove the victim-blaming that often comes with protecting yourself from violence.
Violence is the responsibility of the person who uses it. Training gives you more options; it does not make you responsible for preventing someone else's violence.
What to bring to your session
When attending one of our training sessions, it's important to come prepared with:
A water bottle: we have a water bottle refill station at the studio to ensure you stay hydrated throughout the class
Comfortable athletic clothing: to allow for freedom of movement (note: skirts and dresses aren’t recommended)
Towel: stay comfortable and wipe away perspiration during breaks
No need to bring any note-taking materials; we will email you with the course content after the class.
We will train with you at your own pace, so as long as you are comfortable, we can create a great learning experience. If you’re unsure about anything, please get in touch and we’ll happily answer any questions you may have.

“…taught me some practical skills that I hope I never have to use“
I was referred to Fierce Females when I sought out self defence classes after a traumatic event. I didn't know what to expect but from my first meeting I was put at ease. I could pick a session time that suited my work schedule which helped me commit to booking. I leant things about myself that I didnt even know i did when i feel uncomfortable. Amanda helped me to push myself out of my comfort zone and taught me some practical skills that I hope I never have to use. I was made to feel welcome, heard and safe (and the exercise helped too).
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“…should be mandatory at schools“
Extremely empowering, educational and life changing! Much more than expected, especially for such a small investment. Amanda is absolutely awesome, instructing us with kindness, respect while teaching us bad ass defense moves! Most important, was learning how to respect ourselves, by using our brain, body and voice to protect ourselves! Recommend to all females of any age, should be mandatory at schools. Super grateful for all that Amanda and her Fierce Females are doing for our community 🙏🥰🤩

Frequently asked questions
-
No. Sessions start from where you are today. Your facilitator adjusts each skill to suit you, and it builds with practice.
-
Often, yes. Tell us about your needs when you book, and your session’s facilitator will talk them through with you before you start. They'll adapt activities where they can, offer alternatives, and leave out anything that isn't suitable for your body.
-
That depends on your goals. Some women book a single session to learn the foundations; others train regularly to build skills over time. Your facilitator can suggest a plan after your first session.
Each individual session typically looks like:
A conversation first. Your facilitator asks about your goals, your experience, any injuries and anything you'd like to avoid.
Skills, one step at a time. We explain and demonstrate each skill before you try it.
Practice at your pace. You repeat each skill until it feels comfortable. Ask questions any time.
Pads and training equipment. To respect your boundaries around touch and personal space, we use pads, tactical dummies, focus mitts and training bags.
Notes to take home. We email you the session content afterwards, so there's no need to take notes.
-
One-to-one sessions are tailored to your needs, adapt as you progress, and let you move at your own pace. You can book them at a time that suits your schedule.
Group classes follow a set timetable and curriculum, and generally cost less per session than one-to-one sessions. We also offer small-group courses that build your skills progressively, subject to funding availability.
