Fierce Females Founder Amanda Giblin Featured in the Gold Coast Bulletin
We’re proud to share that Fierce Females founder Amanda Giblin was recently featured in the Gold Coast Bulletin, in an in-depth interview with journalist Ann Wason Moore.
The article, titled “Terrified victims tell story of horror in homes”, explores the growing demand for real-world, trauma-informed self-defence programs across Queensland and highlights the crucial work Fierce Females is doing to support women and communities at risk.
The Growing Need for Violence Prevention
In her interview, Amanda shares the confronting reality of what many women and girls are facing today, from domestic violence victims trying to rebuild their lives, to school-aged girls navigating increasingly dangerous environments.
While Fierce Females currently supports a limited number of high-risk referrals through partnerships with Queensland Police Service, the need far outweighs the available resources, with police seeking to refer hundreds of women every day.
The article highlights the importance of education and early intervention. Amanda explains how building confidence, boundaries, and real-world safety skills from a young age can stop violence before it escalates, helping both girls and boys understand accountability, respect, and self-advocacy.
Fierce Females: Where Practical Skills Meet Emotional Strength
Founded by Amanda after decades working as a professional stuntwoman, Fierce Females combines hands-on self-defence training with emotional and psychological empowerment.
Through school programs, workplace workshops, referral-based support, and public classes, Fierce Females helps women and communities not only defend themselves physically but reclaim their confidence and independence.
Amanda’s own experiences with coercion, emotional abuse, and working in male-dominated industries shaped her understanding that self-defence must be more than physical skills; it must also address the emotional conditioning that too often leaves women vulnerable.
What's Next for Amanda and Fierce Females
In the article, Amanda shares her vision of bringing prevention programs into every high school, ensuring young people are taught early how to advocate for themselves, respect others, and break cycles of violence before they take hold.
At Fierce Females, we continue to grow our reach, but long-term change will require continued community support, funding, and collaboration.
